2007 Registration Information

1. LEAGUE STRUCTURE

Due to area population size and National Little League rules, the Niceville-Valparaiso Little League (NVLL) is divided into two primary leagues. This year, NVLL will again use a "common pool" method to split into American and National Leagues. The draft process will determine the league your child will be in, with American and National League coaches alternating draft picks. Within each of the two primary leagues, there are six divisions organized by league age as shown below. League age is determined by:

Baseball League Age (based on age as of 30 Apr 2007)

Softball League Age (based on age as of 31 Dec 2006)

Division Age
Tee-Ball 5 - 6
Minor C 6 (if played Tee-Ball)
Minor B 7 - 8
Minor A 9 - 10
Major 11 - 12
Junior 13 - 14
Senior 15 - 16
Big 17 - 18 (District Team)

For a summary of the different rules by division, view the Rules Matrix.

Players that did not participate in NVLL during the 2006 season MUST present their birth certificate at registration.

All players must present proof of residency at registration.

For more information, read Little League Baseball's proof of age and residency requirements.

2. FEES

Registration fees remain the same as last year, and are based on cost per player (by league age), NOT the division your child will play. These fees represent approximately 1/3 of the cost to run the league. The remaining funds are raised from team sponsors and fundraisers. Each child will be assed a flat fee with no family rate available. The registration fee includes a complete uniform, including the players name on the back of the jersey, and a standard picture package. Scholarships are available on a case by case basis and are screened by the League President.

League Age Cost
5 -6 $55
7 - 12 $65
13 - 16 $75

An additional $7 fee per household will be assessed for each family whose residence is not within the city limits of Niceville or Valparaiso. This fee is imposed by, and given directly to city officials to help offset the cost for the use of city owned and maintained facilities by non-residents. The cities of Niceville and Valparaiso pay all electricity and water bills at our fields.

A $10 non-refundable, late registration fee will be assessed after 13 Jan. Players not registered by tryouts will be placed on the players' list used to replace a player that has withdrawn or been removed from a team.

3. REFUNDS

When Refund
Before 7 Feb Fee minus $10
7 Feb - 11 Mar Fee minus $40
After 10 Mar No Refund

Refund dates for the the Junior/Senior Leagues have not yet been set. They will be much later since their season starts at a later date.

4. UNIFORMS

Players will be sized for uniforms at registration this year. All players should attend registration to be properly fitted for their uniforms

All players league age will be provided a hat, shirt, pants, and socks. Parents are responsible for providing suitable shoes and a glove. Players must be in full uniform for all games.

5. TRYOUTS

Tryouts are mandatory for all players league age 7 - 12 unless they are returning to a Major League team. Players not attending tryouts are NOT eligible for the draft and cannot play. Click here for details.

6. FUNDRAISERS

Each player is asked to sell at least 5 tickets for the Opening Day Cook-Out. Please help sell as many tickets as possible. Photo buttons will also be offered for sale, which help raise funds for the league. Significant funds are also raised through concession sales. These important fundraisers generate a significant income to help defray 1/3 of the cost of our Little League program. Please help make these events a success. All money raised helps make your local Little League program better. Also, remember that the final 1/3 of the league costs are paid by the team sponsors. Please make an extra effort to support those businesses that care enough to help your child have an opportunity to play quality baseball.

7. MEDICAL RELEASE FORM AND INSURANCE

All practices and games are conducted within strict National Little League rules and guidelines. Despite all efforts, accidents and injuries inevitably occur. The League is insured (as the secondary insurer), and your child will receive medical attention/treatment if necessary. The League requests you sign in front of a notary a medical release form. In your absence, this form will allow an attending physician at an emergency room to begin necessary treatment. The purpose of these forms is to assist the coaches in the event that a player is hurt while practicing or playing a game and the parent or guardian is unavailable to take the player for medical treatment. If you do not sign a medical release form for each child registered in the NVLL program, he/she must be accompanied at all times by a parent/guardian during all practices and games. Otherwise, he/she will not be allowed to participate.

If known, bring date of last Tetanus Toxoid booster, and name, phone number and address of family physician.
